As of January 2026, For the Whim adopts the following Membership Policy
All performers in our shows, our Board of Directors, Officers, and show staff (Production Managers, Directors, Stage Managers) must participate as Members of For the Whim Productions. Anyone in our community is also welcome to join as as a member.
Membership benefits the organization and our members, in a bunch of exciting ways!
Membership Obligations (Full-Year)
Members who join in February – July (Spring Show) must …
- pay $20 dues (or perform 2 additional volunteer hours)
- volunteer 6 hours
- attend January general membership meeting (elections)
Membership Privileges Full-Year)
Members who join in February – July (Spring Show) are entitled to …
- Input on play selection via questionnaire
- Voting at our January General Meeting (elections)
- 15% discount on tickets (up to two tickets per event)
- Member-exclusive events (January and June, at least)
Membership Obligations (Half-Year)
Members who join in August – January (Fall Show) are obligated to …
- Pay $10 Dues (or 2 additional volunteer hours)
- 3 volunteer hours
- Attend January General Meeting

Members who join in August – January (Half-Year) are entitled to …
- Input on play selection via questionnaire
- Voting at January General Meeting (elections)
- 15% off tickets (up to two per event)
- Member-exclusive events (at least January)
Volunteer Hours
Volunteer hours are determined in set blocks, as follows:
- Committee Meeting: 1 hour
- Rhythm & Clues Staffing: 3 hours
- Box Office/Lounge Staffing: 3 hours
- Mystery on High Staffing: 3 hours
- Fantasy Faire Staffing: 2 hours per shift
- Load-in/Strike: 3 hours
- Other volunteer opportunities, TBD
Working as Production Manager, Director, Stage Manager, Backstage Crew, Booth Crew, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Costumer, Props Designer for any production will count as a member’s volunteer service for the year, with no additional hours needed.
Performing onstage will not count as volunteer hours.
